Bray Music Video Festival DEADLINE

The deadline for submissions to Ireland's only music video festival is now one weekaway. This May 13th-16th the seaside town of Bray will again play host to a weekendof the best music videos Ireland has to offer. Last years festival was anoverwhelming success Lorcan Finnegan sweeping the board at the awards ceremony and picking up the BrayMVF Rising Star award.

This year the festival has moved locations from the Mermaid Arts Centre to theHarbour Bar as we had far too much fun there last year. “With a slightly less formallocation we've been offered a lot more freedom with our planning of the weekend.”says festival director Ross Bradshaw, “For example we'll be putting on a gig eachnight as we really want to give video makers a chance to meet bands. We're alsohoping to finish off the weekend with a chill out session on the Sunday completewith BBQ, smoothies and an acoustic set from Simon Fagan. ”

The festival is scheduled to start on Thursday with an open day/exhibition by CineElectric, TeamFX and Production Depot held up in Ardmore Studios. “We often findthat when people are starting out they feel a bit intimidated or something aboutcoming up here and talking to us about rentals.” says Jason Foran, Manager of CineElectric “The open day will provide those people with a great opportunity to come upand see what we have going on as well as being a chance for everyone else to see ournew toys.”

Details of the festival are still being announced but among the confirmed events is a workshop with editor Tony Kearns. Tony has edited some of the most iconic videosof all time such as Radiohead “Just”, The Prodigy “Firestarter” and Snow Patrol“Run”.

Among the musical acts confirmed for the weekend are Noise Control, Autoban, SweetJane, Scarecrow Disco and Le Galaxie. The festival's commitment to the musicians endof promo has been further cemented with the announcement of a new award for BestArtist.

The full awards lineup now reads as:
Best VideoBest

and
The BrayMVF Rising Star

As well as the beautiful awards statues the BrayMVF Rising Star award also boasts aprize which amounts to a full video shoot. C-Stage in Ardmore for the day, A REDcamera and lenses from Production Depot, 2000 euro worth of lighting from CineElectric, 1000 euro worth of practical FX from TeamFX and a casting in the CourtyardStudio.

The Second Annual Bray Music Video Festival is now officially open for submissions.

Please email submissions@braymvf.com for an entry form and more details.
The deadline for all submissions is 26th April 2010.

The 2009 festival was a huge success with Lorcan Finnegan scooping four of the top awards including the coveted BrayMVF Rising Star award with a prize including C-Stage in Ardmore for the weekend, 2000 euro of lighting rental fro Cine Electric, 1000 euro of special FX from TeamFX, Red camera rental from Production Depot, Casting in The Courtyard Studio and much more. We're working on finalizing the prize for this year and hope for it to be bigger and better.

The 2010 festival will be held in May (starting Thursday 13th and ending the 16th) and will be primarily in the Harbour Bar in Bray.
This should mean we can put on music every night. Hopefully of the caliber of last year which featured performances by Colm Lynch, Padraig Rushe, The Hot Sprockets, Scarecrow Disco, Grand Pocket Orchestra and Autoban to name just a few.

It's not all pints, screenings and gigs though. Last year we had workshops from Tony Kearns and Heroes for Zeroes and we hope to continue on the workshops in a brand new venue this time around.
There will be more information coming in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye on www.braymvf.com and if you have any general queries e-mail us on: info@braymvf.com

Look forward to hearing from you
